As long as you own an old car you will be working on it

I am 83 & I got up this morning so I can go outside and work on my Model "A" Victoria. I lay a blanket down on the driveway so I can kneel without hurting my knees. I takes me about 5 minutes to get from under the car. When back muscles start to ache, I sit down for 15 minutes or so.
When a job is too big for me to handle, I have a Play Day. I invite some Model "A" club guys over to do the job and I supply coffee, bagels, pizza & soft drinks. Another tactic I use is to trade parts for work.

Half the fun of owning a ford model A. is being able to work on it and enjoy your accomplishments when the job is finished at least that's what I keep telling myself whenever I get into a job that's quite tough and hurts my back!!!

I have reached the point where I could no longer get "down & under" the A so I opted for a unique solution. I ordered an "Aeocreeper" and and it reopened the "down & under" option I can't live without. It is an electric up/down creeper runs on a Milwaukee drill battery and is amazing! It was designed for the private aircraft industry so is VERY pricey. At this point in my life I decided I deserved it and it is a Godsend. I'm just now dropping body onto the chassis so it's up/down 12-15 times a day. The only drawback besides the price is it requires 3" more clearance which is OK with jack stands.
