Due to the fact I can't locate a decent drum/hub which are attached on 54 Fords , is there an issue with separation of the two and installing the best of each from my stash?

No issue. The hub should be OK and as far as the brake drum, this '68 Mustang piece is pretty much an exact replacement for a '54 drum. Many have done it.
