Question A condenser on a '36 fuel sending unit 🤔

Working on a '36. We installed a new fuel tank and saw
that the original fuel sending unit had a condenser. We can't find any info
In the geeen bible or whatsoever if that was stock.

Any info here?

Thanks.

Dennis

That's to reduce static at the radio.

ok this is there for radio static etc the gauges used where not a constant power flow design and used a bimetallic strip in the senders to control current [make and break] this can cause static to pulse through the radio [if fitted] also found at the oil sender and have seen them at the temp sender where electric temp gauges are used [ie 39/40] they also prolong gauge life as they reduce the contacts in the strips burning [just like ignition points and condenser]

Interestingly, my '51 custom club coupe did have condensers on the oil sender, generator, and fuel sender, even though it was not originally equipped with radio.

They probably didn't know the final equipment that early on the line, so they all got 'em.

Thanks everyone. The car didn't have a radio, no idea if it had at some point or if it was taken out.

In those days there were lots of aftermarket radios. I suspect Ford did this so customers would not complain to Ford after the non Ford radio was installed.
