I like '40 Deluxe coupes because of AMT. How may of those little plastic kits did young gear heads assemble since they were introduced in the 1960's? The one I made in the 1980's is still on the shelf in my childhood bedroom. I didn't see one in real life till I moved to the South in 2010 where they are a form of religion. I bought the real thing as a parts pile in 2015, a full size AMT kit if you will.

I built a ‘40 coupe model as a kid. Not sure of the brand but AMT is what I normally bought. Was molded in black plastic, not white like most models. I didn’t paint this one. Looked great in black.

Ford had it going on in the 30's. Just like 34 Ford was a refined 33. 40 was a refined 39. 39 had floor shift banjo wheel tilt out windshield and so on. As hot rodders in the day we took parts from the 39 and switched to our 40's to make as we wanted. Like floor shift. Back then Ford came out with a design then would see where they could make it even more desirable the next year. Myself there are things I like better on the 39 and there are things on the 40 I like. Either on is good and I would take either one.

Yes, Ford made the 40’ better.
That’s why I took us 6 years to find and purchase the 39’ we are happy to own / drive .
