Hello anyone running a pertronix 6 volt positive ground with an 8 volt battery

For one with a user-name such as yours, I'd think you'd know that Petronix doesn't like under-hood heat, and an 8 volt battery is a band-aid for poor wiring.

Contact Pertronix about the 8 volt system. They should give you the real facts. But ditto on the wiring. An 8 volt battery is needed because something is not right and needs to be fixed.

just my 2 cents but 8 volt is just a coverup not a cure [bit like painting rust] 6 volt works fine when its all good and correct and the old tale of shit lights again somethings wrong these days with 6 volt alts and leds don't know why any one would change to 8 let alone 12 v Here's one to think about changing to 12v can actually cause the dreaded dash fire not because the conductor cant handle the voltage/current but the insolation actually breaks down and leaks to earth

A 6 volt generator will never adequately charge an 8 volt battery unless your voltage regulator has been adjusted by someone who has the equipment and know-how.
Take the time to make sure all wiring is in good condition and all electrical connections are clean and tight; especially the grounds. |

I'd have to agree with most, a fully charged 6v battery with good cables will work as good as any 12v car.
Think about it, this is all there was and there were millions of cars operating just fine. |
