Post 34 Ford 3W door+rear glass channel replacement

I have to replace my door and rear roll down window glass channels on my 34 Ford 3 W coupe.
The rear glass channel for the roll down back window i got from VINTIQUE, bad shape and fold, not bevelled at all, horrible.
The channel itself also seems to be much shorter in lenght with regards to my original rotten one. Dont know if any correct length replacement is available. Does the length of the rear glass channel have any effect on the window movement or stability!?
Has anyone any experience with reproduction glass channels?
Any recommendations what replacement channel to get for the rear roll down window?
The door glass channel by United Pacific are much better quality, the fold of the runner is the correct shape and angle.
It seems to me those are good replacements and will work properly!

J-Pegs:
Rear window: Black glass channel VINTIQUE / Grey glass channel my original. Note the difference in fold and length by comparison.
Doors: Black is United Pacific in comparison to the original. Correct fold for the runner

Anyone with experience having replaced their door glass channels with United Pacific ones?
Thank you
Randolf

What’s the length of your original door and back glass channels. I’ve got two that I cannot identify

I have cut the "keyhole" piece off original channels and replaced the poorly made pieces on repop channels.

The overall length shouldn't effect anything as long as you get it situated correctly.

On my 34 3w the door rear channel guide was riveted to a bracket at the bottom, it was broken and allowed the glass to flop around unless it was fully up. make sure its firmly attached, sorry I took no picks .
I also made nylon shims to tighten up the guides , this now keeps the glass nice and secure , and no rattles which was the reason for looking at the guides.

Hi 325
I only have this one side door glass channel that came with the car and looks original.
I believe the 33/34 Two-door Fords and 3W Coupe door channels were the same.

The rear roll up glass channel is original, bit completely rotten through.

I do not have any messurements for United Pacific or any other reproduced channels and dont know if there is any difference in messurements.
I hope this helps.
See attached drawing for sizes in mm!
Sorry for the Metric sizing!

Rich B and Lawrie
Thanks for the advice and tipps. Dont have spares or acess to parts that easily. Would have to make up a complete channel, which is not really economic since i have to have it fabricated

Sorry must have got my wires crossed;, I thought you had the Vintique channel and was suggesting you remove the keyhole track from your rotted original and put it on the Vintique piece.

Hi Rich
Yes, you are absolutely correct. Since you have done it and gave me info how it works, centering the original keyhole part in the middle, irrespectable of channel length, were going to do exactly that to the rear window👍
However, with the door glass channel its more complicated because of its overall shape and design.
Thats why i favour a reproduction or original one, since i am missing the RHS anyhow. Iam not even 100% sure if my existing original door channel is the correct one for a 3W coupe.

Here's a picture of the 1934 channel from Ford Hardware & Trimming Supplies book of '38.

Maybe others have had better luck; but the repop channels we bought for '34 Tudor doors were terrible. The tracks were in the wrong place, the bottom of the channel was shaped wrong where the door arms were supposed to slide. Ended up cutting up NOS * later channels, welding the tracks in the right places and reusing the tab for window slider off the rusted away original channel.

* NORS Regal aftermarket (from back in the day) replacement channels make good donor parts too.

Huh, nice reference, good to have that, thank you Rich.
If i find the RHS reproduction channel by Pacific United i will have my shipment go to South Africa. Once were on the job, i will post the work and comment on the fit of the channels. I might get into the position you were in, matching pieces together!!
