I had a '48 Allard with a Dagenham 21 stud flathead. I never had it apart but it looked like a 1937 US engine. You may find the book "The Story of the V-8 Pilot" by Mick Gamble to be useful on some of this history.

I’m on the lookout for Dagenham built 221 parts in the UK also for a carrier project. I’m enjoying learning about these engines.
