Default Condenser Attached to Voltage Regulator - 47 Car

My 47 car (still 6 volts) has what appears to be a condenser attached to the battery terminal on the voltage regulator. I don't see it on any wiring diagrams and I can't find it offered on any of the parts vendors websites. Can anyone offer any insight on why it might have been attached and whether it is necessary?

If your car was equipped with a radio it may be there for static control.

Caps were attached to sending units and the VR for radio noise suppression. In later years, they added a strange looking cage device to the inside of the front wheel hubs for radio noise. The noise suppression kits had instructions for installation of all components with the kit.

Vibrating points such as the voltage regulator pole and the King Seeley sending units would make some radio noise. The wheel bearings seem an odd item to generate noise but they will.

They can also extend point life while reducing the spark intensity causing the noise.

Thanks for the replies. I was wondering if it was for the radio.
