I am only familiar with 8BA's. I do believe I have seen this issue with earlier engines addressed on this forum several times. As I remember, one of these solutions had some plumbing under the intake manifold.

Joe B, If i understand your your question correctly, I am building a 8ba engine that will be put into a case ingersol garden tractor, with the tin work of an B allis chalmers tractor, there is a guy in northern wisc that built one of these tractor, he was very generous to help me with the plans on doing this project, anyway I had a carb builder from texas bulid me a 3x2 intake with stromberg 97s and what he did was machine in a tap into the passage of the casting leading to the draft tube and that tap will be used to recirculate the PVC gases, and the road draft tube I will find something like a solid rubber ball or something like that and jam it into the draft tube to make the tube non function, and still keep the look of the tube intact, I hope I was able to answer the question, I wish i could install pictures on the site and I have tried in the past and I failed, Hope this make sense

The first "road draft" system used on flathead V8s was introduced in 1935, exiting through a vent on the right front of the oil pan, and used until '49 when the external piping became production. Flathead V8 PCV usage was actually started during W11 on some vehicles that had enclosed engines. |

Where I plan to race it is on a dry lake bed circuit called Lake Perkolilli in Western Australia and the Draft tube 'gases' wont be a problem here, but if I race it on a road circuit then Ill probably need a catch can or other option... My questions are: How can I keep it looking like the Draft Tube is still original, but run the gases thru a catch can somehow? and is there a performance issue doing this, or is there another easy option... |

Perhaps a better option would be to plug the end of the road draft tube, put an unobtrusive "tee" into it, and run a hose to a PCV valve exhausting into the intake manifold.
