Thank you 1935BB and welcome back to FordBarn. The book was a big project done to make information available to all.
If you have a Model 51 truck, post a couple pictures once you get a few more posts. I'm overdue for showing some pictures of the status of my restoration project.

Thanks Model 51. I’ll try to get some more photos uploaded. I’ve owned the truck for about 12 years. It’s incredible that I’m only the third owner of it. The second owner did a very nice restoration in the 80’s with NOS parts. The truck is still 6V positive ground and pretty much original. It was originally a water tanker. All I did was replace The flatbed with one from a AA. I cut the flatbed down a bit to fit inside my enclosed trailer. Still runs and drives. Looking forward to getting back into spending time with the truck.

My fascination with these trucks goes a little deeper. My grandparents settled in Cuba in the 1920’s. They had a wonderful business that was nationalized (stolen) in 1959. Everything was taken including our 1936 model 51 pictured in the photo below. Thankfully, I was born in the US. I grew up, listening to stories of our old delivery trucks and business. I made it a mission to find one just like the one we had before. Here it is with a 90 year difference between our 2025 Peterbilt and our 1935 Ford. My father would ride in the 36 as a kid. I got to drive him around in the 35 with my son. He says it’s incredible how the smells and sounds of my 35 brought everything back decades later. |
