Very sad news indeed. Thanks Heard for letting us know.
I never met V8COOPMAN - Dick Davidson from Lake Houston, Texas but we were in regular contact with each other.
It was Dick who taught me how to enlarge pictures on Ford Barn.
This is a picture of his 1937 Ford Coupe that he sold a few years back.
Thank you V8COOPMAN for your friendship and contributions to Ford Barn.
We trust that he is now at peace. Mercman <><

I saw the title and thought, no don't tell me we've lost another Great One. He offered me advice here on the barn several times, but we messaged one another a bit, usually about aviation things. I copy here one of his last pm's that kinda captured to me, his good nature.

Rest in Peace Dick, God bless.

"You are one lucky guy getting some phenomenal time in a T6. I know what a beast that thing can be, especially on the ground. That thing will make a real man out of ya, eventually! I guess that because of my upbringing, to me...REAL airplanes have noisy ol' round motors and a little wheel on the tail. It's been fun, and you send a note this way any time, Bud!

Holland Air Park, eh? You're living the GOOD life, my friend!

Dick Davidson (DD)"

This one hurts. Dick and I emailed back and forth often. As his health declined, and his wife passed away the emails slowed down. With all the storms near Houston, I would check to see if he was alright. He was interested in my cars including the 57 FI C1 I am finishing up as I sent him progress pictures. We also discussed our fondness of round aircraft engines. This makes me very sad today but I will think of him often as we had many common interests.

Damn! So sad. So much knowledge in one man, now gone. It's just damn-right depressing.

RIP Coop... We exchanged various PMs, mostly over this past year and he always had the answer. I will surely miss this guy. Is that his coop above the photo of his coupe?

I guess I have a different way of looking at death. I figure he is in Ford coupe heaven with his wife and enjoying his new found capability. He doesn't need a bamboo bomber to fly the coop anymore. I dealt with a lot of FAA guys in my career and quite a few became friends in appreciation of old cars and airplanes. I never met him but like to think we could have been friends. Who knows, I might meet him in Ford heaven if I play my cards right.

Fly on Coop!
