I just saw this post and was worried also. James has been very helpful and AFFORDABLE for guys like me with limited income who also happen to like the big old trucks too. He has a lot parts for the big trucks and is very knowledgeable. Again the prices were very fair and the parts of good value.
For big truck parts he was and is the best, if some or all of the business were to be sold prices would surely jump making things more difficult for the average buyer. I hope this turns out for the best. |

It is always Sad to see the end of established businesses. Sad about the death, of the owner. Enjoy your cars, and remember nothing lasts forever.
As time passes, parts and sources will be harder to find, especially if the demand goes down. |

A great place to find parts and will miss their service; had been using them since '69 when first bought my '34 pickup.

I stopped in Job Lot and spoke to James last month, they still had many parts left, he said they will close for XMAS and New Years and open up a few days in January just to throw out what they cant unload.

He said 90% of the inventory is now gone. Much of it was sold to small dealers they have done business with in the past. No one has made an offer on their suppliers list yet, hopefully those that have made the "odd stuff" won't follow Joblot's demise. lynn |

OMG!! I can't believe it. I've been going there with my Dad since I was about 10 years old! What happened to Ray?? I'm 62 now, and I'm looking to restore our 1929 Model A Sport Coupe with my daughter! Jamaica Ave, Queens Village. She's the next generation. She got me and my Dad to drive up to our house in the Catskills, near Hunter, in the "A". She wanted to ride in the rumble seat, all the way up. What a fun and memorable trip. There happened to be a car show in Tannersville NY, and we went, and took the "Longest distance traveled" award. We live in Whitestone NY. Queens, and about 15 minutes from Joblot. I will miss both Ray and Chuck, and so will our 1929 "A" Sport Coupe, 1941 Super DeLuxe Woody Wagon, and 1936 Lincoln "K", LeBaron Roadster, 330! Great people. Helpfull, and SOOOOOO convenient!!

Reading this old thread, I noticed an old reply that says we had purchased the business. I’m sure that everyone knows that we did not do this. However, we and various other vendors did buy a significant amount of the Joblot stock, mostly at very reasonable cost. In our case, it was primarily transmission parts. So MUCH of the stock stayed in the market and was simply relocated to other vendors like us. Going on almost ten years later, most of the hot selling parts have been sold but we still have a lot of various NOS transmission goodies still available.

James has been helping so many of us out since the closing of Joblot. Here's the updated information for James. He has increased the parts he has available since the closing of Joblot.

Yes, we sell individual parts for them as well as rebuild kits. We also stock the replacement steering worms and the sector rollers.

[QUOTE=Bored&Stroked;2333709]Thanks Ronnie . . . didn't know about James![/QUOTE
Your Welcome Dale. Heck I just received a package from James today great stuff a USA production king pin set as well as new Best brand gasket items as well. When I call him its just like the Joblot days ask if he has a part and he's right at the spot looking to see what he has. That's exactly what he always would do when we called him in the days of Joblot. Always amazed me knowing how big that old place was James told me a long time ago the phone cord was very long!
