After I realized I had a warped bottom on a fuel pump stand I started looking at the swap meets and they just about all have warped bases, that must be why they are for sale. Now if I find one that's straight across the bottom and if it's cheap, I buy it and stick in my parts stash. A lot of guys are running electric fuel pumps, so a warped base doesn't matter except for maybe an oil leak. The base castings are pretty thin on them so I can see how they would warp after years of having the pushrod shoving upward on them.

8ba's don't need the umbrella as there fuel pump stand is sealed as they breath thru the other end of the engine with the oil filler and draft tube so splash isnt a problem
