This was how I went with 276 cube and three Max built Strombergs and an L100 from Ol Ron. Runs great.

I think your early WCFB is mounted backwards. Thats the way I'm running mine on my 32. It allows the use of the carb linkage with out too much modification on the 32 and also works out with the fuel inlet being near the fuel pump.

I used the stock jets the 390 Holley came with. My engine is 59 AB with .060 over, merc crank, 1.6 valves and a bit of a cam. All worked good and did not need to change them.

I went with the 4GC because of it's simplicity (applying the KISS philosophy). At one time I toyed with the idea of the “Teapot” but rejected the idea because like all Ford type carbs of the era very complicated and lack of ethanol friendly parts.
Hollys do not sit well for long periods without drying out and shrinking of the metering and bowl gaskets.

I’ve rebuilt the 4GC 3 or 4 times in 35 years, once during the ethanol changeover, moving all the fuel lines to the 30R9 spec and a couple of altitude changes and tuning.

with the air valve secondary adjusting the weight on the air valve makes it extremely tunable depending on your application

As I recall 390's come stock from Holley with #51 jets.

Quite frankly, I don't understand how the PCV system pictured in Post #31 can work. With a stock 8BA, the air enters the engine through the faltered cap on the oil fill tube. It then circulates through the engine, and exits through the road draft tube. When I added a PCV system to the 8BA in my old '36, I left the oil fill alone, plumbed an appropriately-sized PCV valve into the orifice in manifold where the road draft used to be, and ran a hose from it into the manifold. This retains the original air flow route.

The system shown takes the air directly from the inlet on the oil fill tube to the air cleaner, bypassing the internal path in the engine completely.

Could someone explain to how this is supposed to work? I'm baffled.

The one in Post #33 looks good.

#31 shows filtered intake air supply. #33 show the road tube mod replaced with the PCV.
your setup is the same but I chose to supply filtered air. Up in the north woods you are probably OK with an Unfiltered supply but down here in the desert SW dust/grit is everywhere

On a closer look, it appears to be two different setups on the same engine. I'd go with the one in Post #33.
