I am fitting piston rings on a 255 Merc. and i am using a old set of rings fro Egge. This is just a box of loose rings with no instructions. What ring is for top and 2nd groove? One ring has NO dot and a INSIDE groove and the other has NO dot but a out side groove. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Rings with inside groove are top rings, Fit with groove facing up. Idea is that compression gets behind groove and aids in forming a seal
Rings with outside groove are 2nd rings, Fit with groove toward skirt of piston. Acts as a semi scraper
