Default 8BA rad fan.

Hi fellas. I have a 53 239 in my A. It has the 3 blade fan with sealed bearings. I can't find parts or ideas to rebuild it.
Thanks for any input.

The bearing is readily available, as I think it is a standard water pump bearing. I replaced mine a couple of years ago. You will need a good sized press. If someone else has the number, perhaps they can post it; otherwise I'll spend some time finding it.

EDIT : Found it. Thanks to "Ross F-1" on this forum. "The bearing is an NSK 885586 'water pump bearing'. Cost was $20. It is physically identical except that it has an extra-long shaft sticking out of both ends. The shaft is made with special steel so it can be trimmed to fit without carbide tools."

Thanks very much.
I thought I was going to have to make the other style hub work after finding all the pieces.

It's not an easy job. You have to remove the spot-welded cap on the inside, then an internal clip that retains the bearing. Best if you can leave the fan riveted onto the hub, but that complicates pulling the bearing out. The only issue with removing the fan is the potential for the grinder nicking the fan, which worried me (having seen some fans that shucked a blade). After inserting the new bearing you need to put a cap over it; you can either reuse the old one (if it is intact) or take a welch plug and drill it out, then spot weld it.
