I have a couple of generators that I need to identify by date. Could some one please respond with the Ford dating code stamped into the field housing? Or a source for the information? I don't see it on Mac Vanpelt's site. I've lost my copy!!
Thanks! |

I have not confirmed the later V8 stuff--yet, years ago when I was rebuilding generators for resale I didn't worry about this, and only noticed some dates on armatures
on model A generators I have confirmed by armature dates on original ones-- H-27 the month is the # 1-12, 1 jan, 2 feb etc I-28 J-29 K-30 L=31 M-32 ---- the original A generators it is on the band, but later it is on the field N-33 housing, usually with "FORD" O-34 ---and continues |

Generator codes.
1931=L 36=Q 41=V 32=M 37=R 42=W 33=N 38=S 34=O 39=T 35=P 40=U 1=Jan. to 12=Dec. This only dates the body, so many have mixed matched parts! |

Great!! Thanks!! Did the sequence continue during '43 and '44?. How about after the war - after "Z"? The units I have are in the 21A category.

So, it appears that the system changed after the war. To what? |
