I have a fuel filter prior to my electric pump (back by gas tank). Car runs fine.
What are the advise here - do I need second prior to carb? Note: no manual pump

A second filter just prior to carb (or fuel pressure regulator if installed) is a very good idea. Nothing worse than a clogged carb. There is about six or seven feet of steel gas line between the electric pump and the carb that can introduce crude to the fuel. In this case, two really is better than one.

Fuel injected cars normally use only one filter and injectors are very picky about clean fuel. I see no reason you would need a second filter but then again as long as the flow requirements are met it is not going to hurt anything.

Remember the stone and cartridge filters installed in the carb inlets of the last carbureted engines? The closer, the better.

I don't feel that double filtering would hurt anything, unless you were going for judging.

If your still running a mechanical fuel pump you can install a small filter in the glass bowl,
Napa 3039? I think. Add a small spring to keep it in place. And it does not look out of place on a stock flathead. I'd post you a picture, but I still haven't figured out how to add a pic from my phone. PM me and I can email it to you. Sorry, just read the part about no mech pump. ;( |

Hi, a question for 19Fordy; is that carb a holley 2300? I have one installed in my coupe, with a 239 ci. I barely started it a few times ( is still unfinished ) and IŽll glad to know what metering body and jets you have. Thanks in advance, Ricardo.
