Thanks for the suggestion. I'll bypass the resistor next time I have a problem and see if that's it.

My Model A if it starts to boil will lose power and stumble, let it cool down runs great. It may be the tightness of your engine, if I remember correctly you just had it rebuilt.

Thanks for the suggestion.

DO NOT cut that bulkhead. That bulkhead was designed to block HOT air in the engine compartment from being sucked forward (by the fan) over the top of the radiator, and then BACK THROUGH the RADIATOR as already-HOT air.........which hinders, rather than promotes better cooling. DD

Craig somewhere I still have a upper rad shield that I bought for my old 42. Didn't fit it because it was for a 46 - 48 car. 42 cars are hard to buy for . If you want to try it out, it'll only be shipping to me like 5 bucks. pm me.. It's a very fine drake product really. Pennies on the dollar and but ya might not give a hoot

Great story, thank you

I wouldn't take the panel out above the radiator but if you really want to try it, I think you'll find it is held in with 4 screws and nuts so you could remove it without damaging it and replace it again after the experiment

Thank you professor, that's the most exhilarating ride I've had with you yet. Not sure if this would help, but when flying high you have to adjust the fuel mixture. Also when running at Bonneville we have to jet down to increase power. This might not help overheating. God bless you take care

I suppose the problem I had with stumbling may have been fuel mixture. I had 49 jets in the 97 carb. But, I don't see a relationship between that as the possible problem and lifting the hood that solved the problem immediately. Still bewildered about that. Gotta figure it out and fix it before this month's road trip.

Glad you enjoyed the ride along.

How about using a leaf blower and some kind of smoke source to see air flow with the hood opened or closed, hot air must be getting trapped under the hood.
