I have two 8BA crankshafts in my stash. I need one for an engine I want to build, so I took them both to the machine shop. They cleaned them both up and checked them out. I stopped by to talk to the machinist yesterday, and he said they are both good with standard journals, but a little rust. One should clean up at .010-.010 at the worst, while the other may have to go .020-.020. These are worst case numbers. I am going to have the best one ground for my personal use, so the question is what to do with the other one? I won't think I'll ever need it, so I would like it to go to someone who would need it. I already have the cost of a clean-up (including removing the journal plugs) and checking done, so I am wondering if will be more desireable to have the second ground as well, or try to sell it as is. Any opinions would be welcome.

As long as you are straight forward with a potential buyer about what the machinist informed you, you shouldn't have any trouble selling one as is. Most folks looking for one will know that they seldom come without some kind of issue that can be repaired. It's when they end up with cracks or something that can't be repaired that there would be a problem. It might be a good idea to get it Magnafluxed to cover your end. The shipping on heavy items is such that you wouldn't want it coming back. That and some LPS-3 or something like it to protect the metal further.
