Not a big fan on this one. You know what they say "money talks BS walks". I asked myself if I was in that position what would I do? I honestly don't have an answer. He obviously doesn't need the cash.

[QUOTE=tiger.1000;1069938]Fourfords'

I assumed that's addressed to me ?

I am not possessed of greatness, nor indeed am I whining nor complaining about the USA or indeed the Chinese, the Russians, Japanese or indeed any other race. Merely pointing out a fact.

Whether America or its' "brother to the north" are the envy of the ENTIRE world is highly debatable; in fact absolute poppycock ! True; in the past you have churned out some good cars but now that's all over and as for your foreign policies perhaps the subject of weapons of mass destruction and Vietnam should be swept under the table.
Doubtless though, "god" is not responsible for that?

You assume wrong. But given what you just wrote, why don't you share with us where on earth you would rather be? Not a rhetorical questiion. Please telll us where would you rather be? Doesn't seem like you are too thrilled about having your vintage car here. I noticed the lower case god. Sorry pal, It's my freedom too. I won't be hanging with you anytime soon. So go back to enjoying your wonderful life and freedom and your hobbies and think about showing some respect.

Just a brief story, I was at a car show about three years ago at Chic-Fil-A in Corona, CA. and there two fellas with heavy accents(They were from Croatia) asking me questions about the car and sharing that they wished they could have one too. They told me that in their country, if they showed up with a nice antique car they would be under suspicion from the government and would be investigated. The government assumes when you show any type of prosperity in their system, it is likely gotten illegally. He mentioned as they were moving on to the next car that we "Americans do not know what we have here." I humbly told him "Some of us do." Nobody I know is sweeping anything under any table. The world is a competitive, sometimes harsh place. To tell you I am thankful to be able to drive my vintage V8 car ANYTIME I WANT on safe streets with decent people around is the closest place to Heaven I can think of!

Fourford,

Seems that you have a very bigoted and narrow-minded approach to anything outside the USA ? As far as the two Croatian "fellas" were concerned, either they were blind or more likely taking you for a gullible mug that wanted to hear a good story !

Rest assured, there is a very active classic car scene in Croatia. Go to Zagreb and there are meetings on a summer's evening at Veselo Nepce, near Kranjceviceva. ... 7 to 9pm....Believe me it's a good gathering and you'll meet some interesting people who are in my experience very tolerant of all creeds, colours and religions.
Doubtless you're aware that Croatia is now in the EU and they're doing their best to integrate in to Western Europe. They have McDonalds there so you should feel at home ! The Germans left there in 1945 and the Balkans war ended in November 1995. Doubtless you're aware of the terms of the Dayton Peace Accord ? No; it's not a race track.....

Take the road from Karlovac and down to the coast. It's a good drive with beautiful scenery and friendly people. Likely you'll find a classic car rally in progress from Rijeka to Split and on to Dubrovnik.

The Croatia Old Timer Association is alive and well; welcomes new members and believe me, neither the police nor the government treats the owners of vintage cars as criminals or mafia !

Regarding "god"..."God"...or indeed any spelling of such; who are you to question mine or indeed anyone else's religious followings or indeed lack of?

You Fourford need to loosen up and take a reality check !

Come to the UK; we'll make you welcome, talk vintage cars, debate religion and happily rub shoulders with you.

In the meantime here's some pictures for you to absorb; all of which are taken in Croatia

And if you need any more convincing; here's a couple of "high value" motorcars, both bearing Croatian number plates.

Ladies,
play nice,
no need to get into yet another pissing contest on the Internet...

Stuff like this gets threads deleted, members banned, and has even made entire forums fade from existence

Exactly. I come here to learn and to help. I try to ignore threads like these, but it's hard to look away from the wreck.

China's economy is improving. They bought some collector cars. DEAL WITH IT.

Tiger1000, You are making a childish misunderstanding between Patriotism and bigotry. when you watched hockey and saw America play the former Soviet Union, and rooted for the home team, was I a bigot??? Are you??? Of course not. The people of the world are basicaly the same. We all want generarlly the same things. However, Our Constitution is the difference and our stedfast endorsement of it. Bigotry? Absolutely not. Pride in what we as a Country stand for?? Absolutely!!! And for ANYBODY wants it!! Any race, creed, religion, ANYBODY! but, YOU MAY NOT. You want to bad mouth Patriotism? Fine. You want to bad mouth my Country? Fine. I'm a big boy. I just don't understand with all these hard earned freedoms we're swimming in, you don't seem to appreciate them. Why you are here? Arguing with each other? A smart guy like you probably has better things to do. and you are free to do it.
Just dirve you bitchen antique car and give a nod of respect to who those who had more forsight and vision for this place than most of us and enjoy the ride!! and if someone from another Country likes our cars we got and he can afford it and doesn't want to bomb us to get it, fine. More power to him. Thanks for the dialogue, it keeps me alert but you are wearing me out!
