In new Sept.Hemmings for sale. Did Ford actually make or market such a Model? Look's like what is usually called a golf bag door in picture.

'37 - No A coupe was ever officially refered to as a "Doctor's Coupe" by Ford. No coupe was offered with a golf bag door like bigger cars of the period. I don't have a Hemmings so I can't see it but if it does have a door, it was probably added by someone after the fact.

Being an owner of a coupe myself I'd like to know where exactly that door in the picture leads to. I hope the owner likes sitting on his golf clubs... If I were ever to do a "non-standard" mod to my coupe, it would be to add side vents in the kick panels. This has been one hot summer! |

'Doctors Coupe' was a commonly used name for any type Coupe. In rural & town areas the local house calling doctor would usually drive one. His bag carried in trunk/boot.
Name not only used in US as down here in NZ, Model T & A Coupes were often called a 'Doctors Coupe'. |

I did once have a BMW and the thing kept breaking down all the time -Some one told me that BMW stood for "Breakdown Man Weekly" I got rid of it and when I'm not driving the A's I drive a 1996 Nissan Pulsar - its cheap to run, dependable and seemingly mechanically indestructable -if a little boring! Doesn't seem much point in having lots of (potential Model A ) money tired up in a car that I drive for 5 mins to and from work three times a day and the rest of the time sits in the work carpark. When I take the A's to work I drive by the most indirect route to lenghten out the drive time!

I do like that little side door! It would make storage access livable of you had the inconvienient rumble instead of a trunk. Looks like a good fix for a deluxe roadster.
I wonder if it was a one-off mod, or a little known 'unauthorized' accessory that has yet to be researched? Perhaps only marketed outside the U.S.? |

For the longest time FORD stood for "Fix Or Repair Daily" remember? Seems just about right for My Model A..
