Curved Vent OPil Tube Question

The earlier post about curved oil fill tube reminded me of this flathead oil fill tube that I have but don't know what it fits or why the curved part is so long. Plus it has a plug inserted to prevent filling engine with oil. Seems confusing.

Any information about the possible use of this tube is appreciated. Thanks.

Quite obviously, it's homemade. For what purpose? Who knows.
One would think, I believe, that if the intent was to block off the fuel pump stand, a plate would have done the trick and had a nicer / cleaner appearance.

I think you're correct. I just can't help wondering about it's purpose and installation.

It appears well made indeed.
I could understand a guy wanting to move the filler cap for some reason. However, that is not the case here.

I used a ford Pilot tube on my 33 with a 59A. The pilot is very long so I cut it down so the cap just sits above the vertical part of the firewall similar to one of the images above. The squashed tube curved pictured above are in my mind are very hokey. Mine is very close to touching and I tried to heat/shrink bend it but couldn't get it to move much.

Maybe it was just to make it easier to pour oil into the engine. It does bend to the side. That small cap at the bottom just closes off the place where there is a smaller tube in a stock unit. Nothing really accomplished by closing it off. I bet the large tube isn't completely closed off.

Yes, there is a large internal 1 7/8 in. baffle with a hole in it to allow oil to pass all the way through into the engine. The smaller 3/4 in. baffle with the number 760 stamped on it blocks the fuel pump push rod hole which indicates that an electric fuel pump is used. Hence the cover plate with the 2 chrome bolts.Thanks to all for helping decipher this piece. I guess I'll put it in the Swap Meet section as I'll never use it.
