Always appreciative of knowledge here.
My driver's door no longer will lock from the inside. Had been doing fine, I obviously don't want to force it. I can pull the panel and most likely figure it out, but wanted to see if anyone had any similar experiences.
Second, I finally got the courage to pull the heater over spring break. I took everything apart, cleaned and repainted as well as pull the motor apart to make sure all was good there and lubed the shaft and bearings. Tested the motor and had all 4 speeds using a 6 volt battery and the original switch from my 39. The high speed contact for forward is most likely corroded as I had to wiggle the switch. I wasn't comfortable tearing it apart right now so I ordered a 41-48 switch from Dennis Carpenter that has the resistor in the middle as opposed to the two smaller resistors on the outside.
I got everything reinstalled along with the duct work for the defrost. My truck has been converted to 12 volt so I purchased a 150w 30amp 12 to 6 volt reducer. When I wired everything up only the high speed will work for defrost and forward. However, I test it by running 12 volts by bypassing the reducer (only for a second) both speeds for forward and defrost work fine. I'm guessing it is something to do with the reducer but I tried a second one and still the same thing.
Thanks in advance for any advice. As a side note, with diesel at $5+ per gallon, I have been driving her everyday. Sure was nice having heat this moring
