Default 40 Ford Convertible - Sun Visor Rods?

I pulled my upholstered sun visors off of their brackets a short time ago. Both were hard to pull off with the left one very hard to remove. I found that both rods had slight bends in them about 6"or so in from the free ends. Is this normal? I plan to straighten them otherwise.

The slight bend (or kink) in the middle is normal, that provides friction to hold the visor in the desired rotation.
