BB stamped on my 36 ford
Hi guys I have a 36 roadster and my 21 stud has BB stamped on the block on the passenger side. Does this indicate a truck engine?

Re: BB stamped on my 36 ford
It's likely a re-builder or inspectors mark - at least that's what I think.
Production engine blocks for 1935 and 1936 truck, car and commercial engines are the essentially the same except there are different heads, intakes, etc., but the engines were basically the same.

The BB means that the body was built by Briggs. Our 35 has it also on the fire 3wall in big letters.

Re: BB stamped on my 36 ford
Ford used cast iron heads for service replacements sometimes when the aluminum heads failed for various reasons so it's not unusual to have a car engine with cast iron heads instead of aluminum. The originals would have been aluminum.
Production truck engines almost always have cast iron heads and intake manifolds as standard equipment but these parts are interchangeable with aluminum versions and vice versa.
