Vintage Auto Glass.. Sold through E Bay
I was searching for all new glass for my 1930 CCPU. Vintage Auto Glass, advertising on E Bay, has the four piece set for $245 plus Shipping.
Has anyone bought Model A glass from them? All comments and suggestions most welcome! Larry

I have no experience with vintage but doing a search on the barn this place shows up with decent reviews. It seems some of the early V-8 guys use them.

I don't think Sanders and Vintage are the same Company. My initial concern is fit and whether the sides and rear glass is tempered. Will call Vintage Monday. Was just wondering if any one had bought glass from E Bay.. Larry

Vintage glass in Connecticut is a good outfit, and makes a great product, sent by UPS all over. I have used them for over 20 years, and even though I am retired, I still have them on speed dial on my cell phone.

Larry, we have a good guy out here in Vancouver, WA that makes good glass. If you can't get ahold of the Vintage people, PM me and I will look up his name and number. Vancouver WA may be a long way to ship.

Re: Vintage Auto Glass.. Sold through E Bay
Bert's has tempered window glass for your pickup (NOT Laminated Glass) http://parts.modelastore.com/show_Product.asp?ID=6004
http://parts.modelastore.com/show_Product.asp?ID=6005 Bert's should have all the felts and other materials as well. I know you asked about Vintage Auto Glass but I thought I would mention Bert's anyway. ~ $68 per window. I had to replace my two front door windows on my '30 Town Sedan, fit was perfect. You should be able to find a local glass man to provide the Laminated Glass for the windshield. Last edited by Y-Blockhead; 02-20-2016 at 12:48 AM. |

You can always check your local glass shops, if you have a templet I'm sure they would love the business.
Acme, a local shop does all mine.

Re: Vintage Auto Glass.. Sold through E Bay
I bought the window glass in laminated for my 31 CCPU . I asked the glass company to smooth the glass edges so they would slide up and down easily . Sadly one glass cracked in one laminate as the riser arm was slightly bent causing the the glass to bow slightly . I then fitted an original door glass with the factory smooth polished edges and it goes up and down as smooth as silk whereas the new laminate does not even though the edges look smooth enough . I think you really have the specify properly polished edges and make sure they are before you fit . Nothing worse to have to help the glass up and down by hand !!!

Edges on laminated if you must use it need to be water ground. Most local glass shops (in Australia anyway) only do laminated and don't have a water grinder. Toughened is really the only way to go IMO.
