28 Cowl lacing questions
Restoring an August 28 roadster and have two questions regarding the cowl lacing.
First, do the heads of the rivets face inward toward the engine? That is my interpretation of the JS. 2nd, how is the wire\lacing fastened on the bottom. I.E., does it wrap around or other? Pictures here would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your input. |

Re: 28 Cowl lacing questions
Here is a picture of the original wire ends. Be sure the wire runs through the center of the lacing, and not on top of it. Yes, the rivet heads face the engine.
Pull and wrap the wire tight as pictured, then tighten the center hook to snug it more. |

OOps, here's the right picture. BTW, to make holes in the lacing for the rivets, I use an awl.

Re: 28 Cowl lacing questions
Well, I’m pretty sure I’ll have to buy new lacing. How do you get the wire to run inside of it? I’ve just about ruined mine trying to make it flatter. Thanks all for the help
