Default Can this hood latch be taken apart?

Hello,

I was reading a recent thread on rebuilding hood latches with a rebuild kit, and then I took a look at my latches. Have a look at this photo of the bottom of one of them. The lower end of the center post looks like a nail head, with the spring right behind it. Isn't there supposed to be some sort of little cross pin that can be removed? I can't figure out if my latches can actually be taken apart. Are mine a unusual style, or older repros?

Thanks,
Doug

No they can't. Must be a repro. I threw mine like that away.

Not to hyjack your thread but does anyone have a picture of the bottom of the originals?

Thanks.

I believe mine are just like that too.

I browsed various photos, and I believe the originals had bevels on the inside and outside of the bottom. Mine are square across the bottom.

I looked some more at my non-original hood latches. Although they look real old, they have hardly any wear, and the springs inside are still as long as the new springs in the rebuild kit. So I'll bead-blast them, paint them, and put them back on the car.
