Default Body on

I put the body back on my 31 sport coupe using the original wood blocks with new 1/4" thick rubber pads. The original wood blocks are in excellent condition showing no wear or distortion. How much space should there be between the bottom of the quarter panel and the splash apron? Mine is almost touching. I looked at another 31 coupe today and it looked the same as mine. On my 29 coupe there is about a 1/4" space from the bottom of the quarter palel to the splash apron.

Just forward of the rear fender should show 1/8" maximum clearance. Any more and you will have trouble pinching the fender welt at the rear fender. '28-29 models will always have more clearance due to the rounded shape of the aprons.
