Default Carpet in a 1929 Briggs Town Sedan

I am about to start installing the back carpets in my 1929 Briggs Town Sedan and I had a question about installation. The carpets are from LaBaron Bonney and I will be using the hidden snaps. My question involves where the snaps go in the middle of the back seat floor. It appears that the carpets snap straight to the metal floorpan....there are a number of holes drilled there in a line. Is that correct? Was there supposed to be a board there like in the front of the car? It seems odd to snap the carpets straight to the floorpan. What do you think? Thanks for the help.

Drpepper, have you tried to install the snaps to your carpet? I tried to last night and the snaps are not long enough to clinch over in the carpet. Has anybody else had this problem?
