I was just playing some and dug out some original seal material on the main shaft.
I surprised to find it appears to be a cloth with rubber. So can someone tell me how they were sealed originally? Was it some kind of pre-formed seal? Was it some strips of cloth with rubber wrapped around the shaft and bonded together somehow? What seal made today works? Thanks, Kevin |

the original seals were made of rubber with some fabric, the seals you get today are rubber, make sure if you order a seal kit it is NOT the one with just has orings in the kit they will leak in a short time, ask them if they have the correct seal or just and oring, if you take a cross secion of the seal it is three sided, if you need a picture of one let me know, john
