Default Model A Compressors

Saw this on fleabay this morning and thought I'd share. Obviously Rube Goldberg was alive and well back in the day.

Most of them (even the one that was used on Mt. Rushmore) I have seen are that way. It was much cheaper to buy a broken frame, beat up cowl and a used engine locally and purchase the head, tank and govorner at a supply store than to but the factory built unit. Economics 101 at work. Rod

I had a Gordon Smith compressor that I got for free a couple of years ago. It was in a yard slated to have a house built on the property and the builder just wanted it gone. He even drug it home for me. Sold it for $750 as is. So began the reinfection by the Model A bug.

They don't have to be totally rusty either. (Not mine this pic is from eBay also.)

Do you have a link to it or remember what it was listed under?

I'm really surprized that an air tank, especially one this large, would have flat ends.

I also tried to find it on ebay, but couldn't.

It's here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-192...#ht_500wt_1182

I forgot to mention that it's two compressors and the main picture in the item listing is not the one I posted.

I wondered that, too. When I first saw it I thought it was a fuel tank (because of the flat ends) but there does appear to be a pressure gauge on it. It's an odd loking thing

I wish him good luck getting $600 out of it. Been trying to get $300 out of mine for quite awhile. Rod
