Default 2 questions about parts

Hey Fellas,

I have 2 questions around parts and hoped someone could get me straight please.

1). I have a 1936 ford truck and I need two front headlights for it. They have a high and low beam, and 3 prongs on the back for connector to slide into. They screw in and the trim goes over them. Where is the best place to buy new head lights?

2). On my carb I have this piece (Pictures attached) that 2 hoses go into. Is there a place to get a brand new of these? I am asking because this one spins, the dark area spins and did not know if it's broken or supposed to be that way.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I believe that is a one-way vacuum check valve and no one is reproducing them to my knowledge. I doubt they will ever be reproduced - not enough demand.

Ford referred to it as a "silencer", P/N 11A-17595-A. Not reproduced.

Sounds like the headlights have been converted to sealed beams.

Regarding your headlights. Ford in 1936 used bulbs that fit in a socket. You lights most likely have what sounds like a sealbeam conversion. Pictures might help.

Ebay, local Early V8 club, or nearby swap meet would be best place to look for a replacement.

Glue it— jb weld
your picture does not match a stock 36,it looks to be coming off a spacer— does it have a columbia 2 speed rear?
A H4 halogen bulb has 3 prongs for wires the same pattern as a seal beam
the original pre focus bulbs have a ring with 3 holes that attach the bulb to the socket through the reflector

I'm sorry, I probably created confusion when I did not need to.

Here are some pictures of the lights on the 36 truck.

The picture of the carb and part is from my 41 mercury, yes, it does have a Columbia rear end.

Here are a pair of original 35-37 Ford PU head lights. Now are yours similar except for the seal beams?

The vacuum silencer you have has been improperly connected to a couple of fittings by someone, it has nothing to do with a Columbia. Prior to 41 Ford cars used vacuum from two different sources on the intake manifold, one for the distributor brake and second for the wiper motor.
In 41 Ford and most likely Mercury used vacuum off the intake manifold from one connection point just under the carburetor base and into the cast iron of the intake manifold. The vacuum silencer was used to connect a banjo fitting to the manifold. The banjo fitting had a metal vacuum line brazed to it that ran to the distributor for the brake and the hose connection for the wiper motor. As mentioned above Fred at Southside Obsolete has the special vacuum fitting. The fitting uses two metal rings to seal against the banjo fitting. Fred may have those also.
The Columbia uses a separate vacuum plate added under the Carb. base for vacuum.
The original light bulbs for 36 is the 2330 bulb.

I think I used the copper brake line washers when I installed the silencer on my 42 and it worked fine. 91A-2149 maybe for a part number?

Thanks everyone for the responses. I have ordered my lights from NAPA and the silencer I'm able to get from someone here.

For 6V headlamps, I've found Rock Auto to have an incredible selection.
