Default 30 Roadster Door Striker

During a recent 1300 mile trip from Idaho to Northern California and back through Oregon the door striker on my 30 roadster jammed in the latch and I had to get out of the car on the passenger side. In order to get the door open we stuck a screwdriver into the latch and applied pressure. The striker (cast ?) broke. I used a bungee cord to keep the door closed for the trip home.

I ordered a new striker and the best latch from Snyders. Upon installing the latch and the striker, the striker does not match up with the latch opening. It looks like the new striker needs to be spaced out from the door jamb? Has anybody done this, and how did you do it?

Anybody have any original strikers? Snyders says these are “perfect”. I guess my door needs pushed towards the striker ?
