Default Pick up bed wood slat painting

What is correct procedure for painting the wood in a 30 pick up bed? I believe I read the boards had a black wood preservative on the bottom, and body color paint on topt. Is it the same paint product as the body?

I believe your info is correct. I recently read that someone found some NOS boards that were already painted body color on top but that is the first i have heard of that. i installed the wood and then sprayed the wood with the same primer as the metal. If you are going for originality be sure that you don't 'over restore' ... in other words, the wood grain should show.
