Default Not model A, but fun to watch

The next time you are you are thinking about your model A’s vibrations, heavy steering, or noisy gear train just remember it could be worse - A LOT WORSE!

Doubt you'd need a manifold heater either!

Wow. Not a very good turning circle and steering by armstrong! Those drive chains would cause a modern day Occ Health and Safety person a heart attack! The glowing coals under the front would guarantee right of way too, I'd expect!
Thanks for posting

Very, very cool! I remember when I was a kid, my Dad was stationed in Baumholder, Germany: I would "catch" the train leaving the turnstile, and the German engineer would let me shovel coal into the hopper - I thought I was as good an engineer as he was! He probably told his kids about that "crazy American kid" ...... And he would correct!

Reminds me of that other English man, Fred Dibnah, the steeple jack from Bolton. On youtube also.

Looks like it evolved from the Traction Engines they had in England in the beginning of the Industrial Revolution to haul stuff. They ran them on the roads until someone figured out that it would be more efficient to put them on rails. They looked like big tractors with steel wheels (no rubber).

Your arms would probably look like Popeye's arms after driving that thing for a while. I wonder how long it took to stop that thing, especially with a load. Mechanical breaks no doubt.

Reversing gear on the steam engine. The brakes are primarily for holding the lorry while parked.
