Default 1939 Trans or Model B?

I just recently acquired a 29 Model A Roadster with a hopped up banger. I took it out for it's first long run and parked it This morning I went out to moved it and there was this big puddle of oil at the rear of the trans. Instead of fixing it I was thinking about changing the trans. I already have a 39 Trans and a 1932 Model B Trans. The 39 has the 78 case with 81-A double detent shift tower with the 91A shifter fork with about 3000 miles and the 1932 is rebuilt with 1940 gears in it. Which would be the least trouble to change out and who sells the best adaptors. Thank you in advance.

Try the Hot Rods and Customs site or Hamb for better results. Wayne

Changing to those transmissions is a BIG DEAL, why not just locate & fix the leak?

The easiest way by far is to buy a kit from Cling's that adapts the V8 trans. Using the B would require you to make a pedal mount, wishbone mount, and rear trans mount. Cling's kit has everything needed. www.clingsaftermarket.com

I just thought if I had to start pulling everything a part I might as well update the trans for one that has syncros. I already have the transmissions.

This is the way I would do it and I am getting ready to do just that. My 39 trans in my Trog roadster with "A" running gear.

And its not a big deal to do.

Small thing but remember that you will also need to make a bracket to mount your emergency brake. MEC, (330) 644-3450, modelengineeringco.com, might make one.

anyway, ive used the conversion 'kit' to install a '39 trans into my '30 roadster about dozen yrs ago. never would settle for anything less now.
it is an EASY install, even for a beginner like me and doing myself...plug/play as they say.

as far as your leak, sounds like rear main. do not allow those who panic/naysayers convince you that you can not fix such a leak. As and/or Bs leak, when the rear seal is not properly installed. which ever sealing method you use, just take your time to get it right. I have two B engines with modern rear/front seals....no leaks !!
