Engine Number question
We're looking at a 1929 closed cab pickup. The engine serial number is C1496. This is confusing....why would this number be used? Anyone got a clue?

Re: Engine Number question
CA is Canadian number. If it doesn't have a star before the
C and after the number than it's some kind of restamp. Bob |

Re: Engine Number question
If the number pad is SMOOTH, it's been RE-STAMPED.

Re: Engine Number question
Re-stamping IS/WAS a common practice, when installing a different engine.

But I now have info from the title records, which show a VIN of A3131693. Don't know where this came from but probably from an earlier title. So my very uneducated question: If the engine is a replacement, why re-stamp it? Jim Krejci |

Re: Engine Number question
Are you in the wheat belt? That is a Baldwin Gleaner combine engine number.[/QUOTE]
You nailed it, Forever4. The vehicle came from Missouri (it's now in Texas) and was restored there in the 1990's. I found an article on FordGarage.com that includes a picture of an engine plate identical to the one in this pickup. The history makes sense! You guys are a fantastic source of info! Thanks.
