I have read numerous threads that associate Dillinger with Fords, etc etc. This was in the local paper today, in case you don't know and often wondered..............what all happened to the Ford man after he was killed:

there were widespread beliefs in the '20s and '30s that the study of deceased criminals' brains would lead to discovery of common physical abnormalities that accounted for criminal behavior.

I read once that Dillinger almost caused the demise of the FBI after he escaped a small town (I believe in Indiana) that had been surrounded by FBI and many other law enforcement officers in the middle of the night in his 1930 Model A Coupe. Hoover almost disbanded the FBI as a result (or something like that)
Also, a few years ago a '30 coupe was up for sale for a LOT of money that was "supposed" to have been Dillinger's car. What ever came of that, anyone? |

[QUOTE=bobpo1;1127398]I read once that Dillinger almost caused the demise of the FBI after he escaped a small town (I believe in Indiana) that had been surrounded by FBI and many other law enforcement officers in the middle of the night in his 1930 Model A Coupe. I think that was the Little Bohemia Lodge incident in Wisconsin. Agents hurried to the lodge without studying its exact layout, a barking dog gave their presence away, and at least one civilian got killed in a fusillade by the authorities while gangsters exited from the rear of the building. I think Dillinger stole that Model "A" and later abandoned it. it seems several gangster groups got away from what seemed like inescapable situations. gangsters usually had greater firepower than small-town police departments. |

I did some research on Dillinger also and it appears that he is not the one who was shot in front of the theater but in fact took the opportunity to escape and Hoover and his staff covered it all up. Dillinger, as it appears hid out on an Indian reservation in Oregon for what appears to have been the rest of his days. All along living on the story that he had been killed at the theater.
The article was researched thoroughly by a fella named Jay Robert Nash and it sounds very credible. |

bobpo I've read the similar story, and it makes you wonder.
The autopsy had the killed Dillinger with different colored eyes than the real Dillinger, along with other abnormalities. And, the East Chicago cop that was at the shooting, the one who walked up to Dillinger and shot him in the head, was as crooked as all get out. He and Anna Sage, the Lady in Red, were long time acquaintances and he was about to be exposed for his long line of corrupt activity, she was going to exported back to Romania,,,,,, 'killing' Dillinger saved both of their bacons'. His anyway. She got shafted and sent back to Romania anyway not long afterwards. |

One of my friends Dad when I was growing was at one time a railroad detective working out of Chicągo. Heard the story a couple of times how he ąnd another detective were responsible for transporting the lady in red on the first leg of her trip to the west coast for deportation.
