Default First post-looking for local club information

Hello all,

This is my first post after a couple months of gaining a bunch of knowledge reading and re-reading previous posts. I have wanted a model A since I was kid so as a 50th birthday gift to myself I took the plunge.
I call her Eleanor ( I tried to attach a photo-not sure if it worked). She is a 31 Briggs body fordor (town sedan?). I chose to start with a restored car so I could get out an enjoy right away. I have been able to get her out on few shake down (mostly mine not hers) rides before this winter weather has grounded us. Smiles all the way! I have joined both MAFCA and MARC and purchased the recommended books and manuals. I would appreciate being directed to a local club to join in my area (Northeast CT) to help me gain more knowledge and have fun! I have not been able to locate one that is fairly close to my area. Worcester County MA is the closest but I have not been able to find contact information. Appreciate any help!

Hey Greyoak,
WELCOME !
Wow, nice 'first' A !!
You did good and can learn all about the car , as you enjoy it. Sure wished that I could have started this way. But, don't regret any of the breakdowns either.

I suspect I speak for a lot of us when I say I am continually and happily surprised at new collectors appearing on the Barn. Undoubtedly there are others that don't know of this blog, or are not computer-inclined, etc. There still must be some life in the old hobby after all.

Welcome Greyoak. That is one fine looking car-but then I am biased. Work on her over the winter so you can drive her throughout the summer. All 7 days worth.

Ck MAFCA and MARC club listings for both CT and MA.
As you've determined the Worcester area is closest to you. My daughter is living in Pomfret now, beautiful country but you're not really "close" to anything. JMO
Enjoy ! !

Welcome! It is good to see another CT model A guy! Even if you are all the way over on the other side of the state (Out west that would thought of as just around the corner!) There is an active chapter of the MAFCA in Fairfield county. At least you are in easy Model A range of Sturbridge Village which will make for some very nice summer drives. Another nice easy summer destination would be a short drive to visit Classic Cars of Ellington which is just down the road from you.
Enjoy your Model A, and if you will ever find yourself in western CT, PM me and we can get together!

Tam's Model A Parts is just a little north of Worcester which isn't that far from you.
