1935 Pickup Step Plates
I have a 1935 Ford pickup and want to buy a set of step plates for the running boards and am a bit of a newbie when it comes to this year of Ford truck. I just bought this truck a couple of months ago and love it ... and want to get it right.
Does anyone have the correct measurements of the placement of the step plates that mount on the running boards. A factory measurement from the rear fender when I install them would really help me out. I've seen a few sites and there seems to be some conflicting information as which ones are the correct ones. If anyone can send me a picture of the correct ones for my truck would be great. Also, I'm looking to buy a pair of step plates as well. Does anyone have a pair in 100% perfect shape that they want to sell or know the best aftermarket place to find the correct ones? Many thanks for your help. |

Re: 1935 Pickup Step Plates
In the 1936 Ford V-8 Trucks and Commercial Cars Dealer album, step plates are not listed as an Ford accessory item. I am thinking that they were not an accessory item in 1935 either.
I believe step plates were an after-market item that owners purchased for their own personal taste. |

Re: 1935 Pickup Step Plates
I got a pair of step plates with the Ford script on them, possibly Model A. They would not go on the pickup because of the high back edge blocking the doors. A good friend of mine, Chet Chambers, God rest his sole, cut them down for me to where they would fit under the door when it opened. They look nice. If I didn't have a wife with short legs and who could not get into the truck without stepping on the running board, I wouldn't have used any at all. If Mama ain't happy, no body's happy. LOL

Can anyone tell me what year vehicle these two step plates are from? Also are these for a pickup?

Do you have any pictures of the 35 you are working on?

If that is your truck in your avatar, be careful. I smell a set up. |

Re: 1935 Pickup Step Plates
The second picture has the same step plates that I have on my 1926 Model T. Probably used on other Fords without rubber covered running boards. These were aftermarket accessories, so "not correct". Don't you love that terminology?

Oldandtired : Yes, the truck in question is the one in my avatar. You can also look at an album of pictures of my 1935 Ford truck on my profile.
Nice to know that in 1935-37 step plates were not available for 1/2 ton trucks. I guess some of the Ford truck parts dealers are not accurate. |

Re: 1935 Pickup Step Plates
Drive it for a year and then install the step plates to cover up where the running boards are scratched. If you are in a hurry put some chalk on your shoes and get in and out a few times.
