Default Paint Question - Town Sedan Sill Color

I'm getting ready to paint my 1930 Town Sedan 155 this week and am trying to determine what the Sill color is supposed to be (rib just above rear fender and below doors). I'm painting the car Ford Maroon and Black. According to the Paint and Finish Guide the sill is supposed to be black but I see more cars with it painted the body color then black and honestly cant recall what it was before I stripped it. Just checking, is a black sill correct?

Appreciate all the help!

Thanks a bunch,
Bob

According to the Paint and Finish Guide, the inside of the car including doorposts and sills are to be upper body color. I recently purchased a repainted '29 Briggs 155B Town Sedan and it appears that under the repaint the car was originally Ford Maroon and black. All of the interior, as mentioned in the manual, was originally Black. The repaint easily scrapes off the firewall and shows the original Maroon.

Seven years ago, I restored my '29 Murray 155A Town Sedan and painted it Brewster Green and Black. I made the mistake of splitting the body colors at the belt line, not knowing the "correct" pattern. It looks OK and nobody has complained but I do wish I had done it "correctly". Gar Williams

Thanks for the reply. My 30 briggs was originally maroon and black and the interior was still all original maroon. The exterior had been repainted in 50's or 60's with the wrong tone of maroon, I wish I paid more attention to the original paint lines under it as I stripped the car. I resprayed the interior fully with maroon as original. I have re-read the guide a few times and I guess black is correct for the sill above the rear fender like yours is painted. What do you mean by incorrectly split at the belt line? Your picture was what I thought was correct. Unfortunately I have been so busy trying to get this thing on the road I really have not made to any meets or shows to look at others. Its only a driver but I would like to be as close I can.

Thanks,
Bob

It would be interesting to know if there is a difference between the '29 and '30 Town Sedan trim schemes. The pictures show how I painted the inside door posts and sills on my '29 Murray 155A. I believe the colors should not be "split" but the black should be covering the entire door posts and sills. Gar Williams
