Is it a Model A and what year??? More details about the photo and another one of the neat a streamlined dinner called the "Modern Dinner" on The Old Motor. |

Late 30's photo, I see a (possibly) '39 Dodge on the left, and 2 35-36 Fords. The A might be a '29, judging by the front fender???

Here's the narrative at the site (I thought this might be New England)
We still have plenty of snow on the ground here at The Old Motor so let’s slip in one more winter snow storm photo before spring rolls around later this week. This photo was taken in the historic mill town of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, during the 1939-40 winter season and shows a number of cars apparently abandoned on a street during a snow storm. The cars range in date from the late 1920s (the two sedans in the middle of the photo) to as new as a 1939 or later Crosley convertible, which can be found hiding in the mix of cars. To learn more about that tiny little car, you can visit with the Crosley Automobile Club Inc. Photo courtesy of Frank Barnes. Send us a comment if us spot any automobiles of interest in the mix. You can learn all about the history of Pawtucket here, and also see illustrations of the mill town from the 1870s. Interesting photos of the city can be found at The Elizabeth J. Johnson Pawtucket History Research Center. Interesting that seemingly no effort was made to clear the street during the progress of the storm, and the cars appear to be "abandoned" as they stopped in place? Or are these cars moved out into the street while the driveways are being shovelled. (Not many snow blowers then.) Note also the lack of snow on rooftops and other places. Strange. Maybe a warm day after a quick night storm? Joe K

The attached photos are from a series of "then and now photos" of areas of Orange County, California. The then photo is from the First American Title & Trust Co historical photo library located in Santa Ana. reproduced with their permission.

I wondered what that was, didn't recognize it. That early must have been a 2 cylinder?

From that angle I was thinking it was a Bantam Hollywood - I thought the Crosley would be a little smaller

I can't make out the words, but Texaco is selling something for 10 cents. I think gas was more like 19 cents in the mid 30's wasn't it?
