BOYCE Motometer Question
In an antique shop, a friend of mine, found a FORD Motometer, but instead of the FORD oval, it is inscribed,"Made Especially For The Ford Automobile".
Is this an original "T" Motometer ? It came with a set of brass wings. Thank you, MIKE |

Re: BOYCE Motometer Question
Maybe, Think the blue part came about in 1928 when brass wings went out of fashion. Someone else will know for sure

Re: BOYCE Motometer Question
Semantics can be a hard subject! Since Henry Ford did not make or sell motometers for the Model T there were no original Ford script Model T motometers. All those would be aftermarket and reproduction pieces. One inscribed as " Made Especially for..." could well be an era piece. How about a picture?

Thanks for your reply. The motometer is not mine, but I'm sure that I can get a picture. It might be a couple of days. I'm sure that it is an era piece. Thanks again, MIKE |

Re: BOYCE Motometer Question
One just sold on eBay for $35
These were made by Boyce for the Ford owner. Never a Ford accessory item. http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-FORD...-/260773070816 |

Re: BOYCE Motometer Question
Definitely a mid 1920's item, as 1928 rolled around and Ts became used cars not much dressup was done. The crash of 1929 pretty well put an end to T accessories. Henry Ford's copyrights would not allow the script Ford on T accessories but anyone could use block letters.
