Temporary eng. losing oil ?
What was done, we replaced all gaskets seals etc. spotless clean on this
unknown yr engine (could be a 41) only took 4hrs to install in my 46. I may have 100 miles on it. Oill press. 60 cold 40 hot. It now seems to dump a qt oil, looks like running down right side down by the bendex cover. When put together under the pump stand goes a funnel then a tube is dropped down to the rod bushing. The pump rod has no umbrella and feels a little loose. Also I put one gasket under and over that funnel then the pump stand. Question is, why is so much oil getting thrown up there? Motor is a Boston rebuild they could have put a drilled 8BA bushing in there? Don't know if should there be a push rod with umbrella. I do know while on the test stand oil was weeping at the pump stand & figured all those new gaskets would fix that, guess not.. any ideas? ain't blowby either.. think I'll shine a flash light down there while running. sam |

Re: Temporary eng. losing oil ?
How many qts of oil did you install. Only takes 4 or 5 qts with or
without filter. Also to thin of oil leaks. Castrol 20/50 is a good choice for these engines. G.M.

Re: Temporary eng. losing oil ?
Is there a bushing for the pumprod in the block or has someone excluded it and put in a bigger rod ?
If so i can imagine a lot of oil poring out around the pumprod. |
