Default new tires from Coker

I installed four new tires on the 41 Mercury today. Nice whitewalls from Coker, look pretty sharp. Glad I spent the extra money for whitewalls, even though the car probably ran with blackwalls thru the war.

Lots of work but I got it done. I did not see any balance weights. But always seemed to drive OK. Should I get them checked for balance?

Lug nuts were not real tight. Was there any torque specification?

I take it you're talking about the Firestone crossplys? Hard to believe there are no weights on there for those...? I usually go to 70lbs for lug nuts.

Hi Everyone, I think rdmace1956 is saying he didn't see weights on the tires/wheels when he took them off.

I just did tires last week (Diamondback Auburn 600R16) and mine old bias Firestones, put on in 1984 long before I got the car, did not have any balance weight added. The new ones got balanced, but I'm not 100% on the quality of that job because of the balance technique using the center hole instead of the lugs. Some tires wanted 3+ oz.
Only one of five tires wanted 1/4 oz. in one spot. Hmmm. See here for what some others are thinking... https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...ht=hub+balance

I actually bought the Goodrich 6.50-16s because I liked the overall look a bit better. In the test drive I did not notice any issues, sort of hate to mess with em unless something develops.
