Default 41 pickup deck assembly

This thing is giving me some headaches. How tight does the bedsides fit over the frame rails? This one seems to need to be stretched maybe 1/4" to fit over the rails at the 'hump' area. Everything is straight, all original. Rivetting!! Has anyone used bolts and nuts to reassmble the subframe? Any help /advice appreciated. Thanks, Gordon.

Gordon, I think, but am not certain, I understand your question.
I have attached three photos that I hope may help answer your question.

Hello Kube, thanks for your reply and great pics. My deck 'sub-frames' are pretty much the same as yours....just not as pretty, at the moment. My main query is the 'tightness' of the sub-frame rails going over the chassis rails at the hump area They are about 1/4" too narrow. Will fit over with some stretching and taking off a lot of paint. Are they supposed to be this tight? I also notice that you have what appears to be rubber pads under the front lateral beam. My deck is American and very different to New Zealand ones, which are completely mounted on wooden frames.

The subframe was (is) very close to the frame. I don't recall having had the need to "stretch" it, but it was close.

When I was mocking up the fit of the box to the frame, I had placed shims beneath the wood "blocks" to obtain a perfect alignment of the box to the cab.
Once I knew the thickness, I made new "blocks' of the proper height.
Yes, a little OCD perhaps
