Default 1959 292 for sale

I have a 1959 292 for sale.. the vin is f60C9K31401 meaning it is out of an f600 292 ci made in 1959 built in Kansas city mo. and the 31401 built...

this is a freed up motor .. ran last when parked in 1984... it is COMPLETE.. I will be pulling this motor out within the next few days to scrap the truck.. the transmission is also with it .. so if anyone is interested in motor or transmission or both let me know.. I figure it doesn't eat anything so it will sit on a skid until I find the right buyer for this motor and trans.. I will know more on what I want for it as I read these forums.. I did call a ford truck dealership in Kansas city the other day regarding the value of the motor alone.. it saiad since it is freed up he wouldn't take anything less than $1000.00....... but to someone looking for this motor it could be worth up wards around $1500.00-$2000.00... but I will do some reading in these forums and go from there.. if anyone is interested in it let me know and lets see if we can "make a deal"....

thank you for reading.. I haven't read the rules yet so im not sure if im can put my phone number in my post.. I will find out.. I will also figure out how to put pictures up and post them..

bare with me ..

im not a ford guy actually.. know nothing about this motor.. a friend saw it and said I better check into it because he said it should be worth 800-1000 the way it sits.. so I called the truck dealership in KC and he said basically the same thing.. so tell me why the dealership guy would say this and and two of you so far say "good luck" and "dream on"????????? should I just leave it in the truck when I scrap the truck????????? fill me in..

That is the most rediculous thing I have heard in a long time. Absolute tops for the engine is $400. And very few would pay that much. I bought the same thing a couple years ago, twice, $100 on one and $150 on the other. Have never paid more than $200, and that only one time. This is out of 20-25 yblocks over the last 15 or so years.

DO I KEEP IT AND TRY TO SELL IT OR LEAVE IT IN THE TRUCK AND SCRAP IT????????????

I would say get real on the price, or scrap it.

I think if you took a little time and could fire it up and run it $500-$750 is possible, not running you can knock $200 off because it would be a gamble, since it has sat for 30 years the rings are probably stuck and it will smoke big time.Fire it up and let some Marvel Mystery Oil do it's thing and cross your fingers.

The distributor in this truck engine should be the late model version which are in short supply at the moment. Well worth pulling out and keeping, lots of people are looking for them.

I can see how your expectations were raised by the dealer who hasn't a clue. While it is true some people may want the engine, its known as a core, not a runner until you can prove it. If it has been rebuilt recently and you have the paper work to prove that, its worth 2000 or more. If its a core, which is how most would rate it, its worth about 200 bucks simply for its parts. It is complete, with desirable parts which some will pay a bit more for. The truck bell housing may be worth more for scrap, while the flywheel will fit many cars. The heads should be desirable, as is the block, crank, and rods. The distributor may be worth a bit too. A generator from an F6 has a very good design, usually with big bearings yet is the same size as in a car. Please save it as is, someone will thank you.

call the dealership and ask them what that truck is worth, you are probably talking to a guy at the dealer ship that has never ever seen a y-block.

I dont know about the forged crank, it may be. I have read where the forged crank is very heavy, and not preferred for passenger service. But, it sure would be a great place to start for a stroker!

Brought my 57 in the shop at the last Ford dealer I worked at in 08 & there were mechanics there that worked 20-30yrs in Ford dealers that didn't know what a yblock was. Some we're scratching their heads wondering how a Ford had a dist. in the back of the engine. Last complete yblock I bought I spent 250 for it & it had the good stuff. G heads & 1.5 rockers

Post your info over on the Yblocksforever.com site. They're the guru's on Yblocks.

This is Ford Barn isn't it? There for a while I thought we were on the HAMB Pull it out & see what you have. The worst that can happen is you end up scrapping it.
