i had my ford running today.. runs very nice just it hesitates when you go from dead stop.. points good carb rebuilt , new fuel pump. vac brake not working maybe? lots of power.
it has a Flathead v8.

Vacuum brake should have nothing to do with it. Could be that the accelerator pump is not giving a big enough shot.

it has always been like this from day one for me . does run at highway speed fine (65). flat spot is worse when engine is cold. forgot one thing ..i don't think the engine was ever rebuilt. at least i did not do that she is pretty rusty.

Check the small link that connects the throttle arm to the accel pump rod. The center hole in the throttle lever must not be a sloppy fit. Thats where you might get a hesitation when you give it gas from idle as depressing the gas pedal the first 1/4" does not start pushing the accel pump down till the slop is taken up. Where the bottom of the 2 pins go into the throttle lever.I have new ones if you need.If the hole is really worn bad like egg shapped you could braze it up and redrill it to the pin diam. must be a good fit. Not sloppy. ken ct.
